How to Do Magic Illusions
People normally think that an extraordinary thing will happen when they hear of the word magic. As a magician you may feel exasperated, but then you need to live up to these expectations, after all you are a “Magician”. All you need to do is know and understand magical illusions. The audience needs to “Think” they are seeing something which is not actually happening. You call it magical illusion.
Remember, when we say “illusion” it is actually making the audience see what you want them to see. As a magician you have to know that it is not actually happening but you have to convince your audience that it is actually happening. An illusion is a way of deceiving your audience. The audience should miss out on the little tricks you are carrying out because they could only see what you want them to see. You have to give importance to angles if you want to succeed in this.
A magic controlled by mind such as spoon bending, bending the rod and reading minds are examples of mentalist magic. You can try to look for resources under the title ‘Master Mentalist’ if this type pf magic interests you. It can provide insights for beginners on how to do it while as for those who are already practicing it, it can offer tips on how to be more efficient.
You are totally mistaken if you think that an illusion is doing your magic perfectly. Illusion also involves other activities like communicating to the audience other than just creating breathtaking effect.
Illusion cannot be created. Period! When we speak of an “illusion”, the trick is just a tiny component of the entire act. What actually matters is how you presented the whole act and how convincing it was. Magic is a whole act and not just one trick. He has to act like a storyteller, continuously weaving stories to keep his audience focused on him throughout his act. The audience must completely feel and believe in it. Only then will you be able to create an illusion, as your audience would see what you want them to see.
For you to stimulate the senses of your audience you have to create suspense. Intrigue them. That’s the only time you can get a wow reaction from the audience!” “How did he do that”, otherwise all you would get are a few laughs. It’s better to work on the whole presentation than just focus on the act. Practice doing magic illusions and make your audience fascinated wit the act.
